2023 Program
Naples - Sorrento 12 - 21 May 2023
Program
The Tre Golfi Sailing Week is the perfect combination of inshore and offshore racing, with easy logistics, breathtaking views, and many social events to entertain the teams when not racing.
In 2022, the 134 entries from eighteen nations confirmed the growth trend of this sailing week which is a landmark in the international sailing calendar.
The 2023 edition of the Tre Golfi Sailing Week includes:
• The 68th Regata dei Tre Golfi, part of the 2023 FIV Italian Offshore Championship;
• The Maxi European Championship, comprising one long-distance race along the course of the Regata dei Tre Golfi and eligible to the IMA Mediterranean Offshore Challenge, followed by four days of inshore races, eligible to the IMA Mediterranean Inshore Challenge;
• The ORC Mediterranean Championship, with three days of inshore races.
Similar to the past, next year’s 68th edition will draw on the organiser’s rich heritage of hosting competitive and popular regattas that are inclusive of a wide variety of participants, from maxi yachts to double-handers. This will also include classic yachts, ORC and IRC racing yachts, and multihulls in what becomes an international festival of sail, assembled in Naples.
The program starts with the Tre Golfi offshore race, with different courses for Multihulls (205 miles), Maxis, ORC and IRC yachts (155 miles), all around the gems of the bay of Naples including Ischia, Ponza, and Li Galli.
The course length varies by class, with multihulls racing 205 miles, maxis and ORC entries 155 miles. The start is being planned for the afternoon when there is usually still wind from the day’s thermal breezes, and teams are then challenged with using this headstart to transition into the night breezes found along this scenic coast.
Following the arrival of the long-distance race between Capri and Sorrento, the fleet moves to the southern side of the bay to beautiful Sorrento. Here the peninsula generates its own perfect sea breeze to continue inshore racing for the remainder of the week.
Numerous prestigious trophies are awarded during the Tre Golfi Sailing Week events, with many famous and historic names inscribed on them from the past seven decades of racing.
The Tre Golfi Sailing Week is organized by Circolo Remo e Vela Italia, in cooperation with IMA, ORC, UVAI, Yacht Club Italiano, Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia and under the patronage of FIV.
Dating back to November 20, 1889, the Circolo Remo e Vela Italia is one of the most established yacht clubs.
